Recreation, Events & Entertainment In The Beautiful Town Of Enfield Connecticut
Located at 19 North Main Street is the Town of Enfield Recreation Center. That’s good to know for families just moving to Hartford County. There are all kinds of programs and events held throughout the year in the town for youth and families. Let’s look at some of what you can get involved in when it comes to recreation in the town of Enfield, Connecticut.
For adults, there is an open gym basketball league, a coed volleyball league, gym volleyball and yoga classes. There is also open gym pickleball at the ALAC. Fall swim lessons are available for the youth, as well as a recurring event called Playgroup. All of what’s been mentioned so far is what’s available during the fall and winter months.
Let’s take a closer look at Playgroup, as it’s great for the younger kids 5 and under of the community. Not only is it great for the kids, but families in general. When you and your child show up to Playgroup, you get to meet other families in the town of Enfield. It’s a free event, and it’s also held at ALAC, just like the open gym pickleball. ALAC stands for the Angelo Lamagna Activity Center.
No registration is necessary for Playgroup. Now, this next recreational adventure is for children ages 5-18. It is the Dolphins Swim Team. The Enfield Annex Pool is where the team meets, and the team practices 3-4 times a week during the fall and winter. Kids get to participate in weekend swim meets starting in early November.
If your child is interested in the Dolphins Swim Team, early registration is encouraged, as there are a limited number of spots available. There is also the Youth Basketball League, 1st and 2nd grade instructional basketball program, kindergarten basketball program and the Youth Basketball Clinic. If you have any questions about any of the programs mentioned, you should contact the Deputy Director of Recreation Services, who oversees the Town of Enfield Recreation Center mentioned in the first paragraph.
The Enfield Tennis Club provides both adult and junior programs and features a pro shop. There are tournaments held there at the club, and there are ping pong events, too. plus, you can find parties and theme mixers on the event schedule for the Enfield Tennis Club as well. The club even offers a babysitting service and also a children’s play room. Plus, corporate memberships are also available.

A couple of years ago, a plan was put in place to make the Enfield Mall a hub for the community, too. Car Meets and Farmers Markets are just two of the events that are supposed to take place there.
